The science says these work, but just the look and design is reason enough to buy one.
The FB S3 is an exceptional longrod, current thinking in archery circles at all levels is that a longrod (for recurve or compound) should be as stiff and as light as possible, this is to stop it flexing or bouncing during the shot cycle genrally caused by the flex in the rod because of the weights and rubber on the end.
To date manufacturers have been thwarted in achieving this balance, because to achieve this the rod needs to be made either very thick in diameter with a thick carbon wall or have an aluminium tube inside with or without foam. The problem with all these solutions is that this type of construction makes the dead weight of the rod heavy, before the weight that really matters on the end is added.

So Fiberbow have put all their knowledge that was used in developing the Fiberbow in to designing the next generation of stabilisers.
The result is the FB S3 longrod, currently the stiffest and one of the lightest longrods available today. The S3 is suitable for all recurve bows not just the FiberBow and test show that it is also an excellent Compound longrod.
The unique coned shape and two trilobate frames creates a series of different shapes along the rod. The primary aim of this design was to make the structure both light and stiff, however electronic and field testing has shown that the design also helps to remove vibrations during and after the shot something that does not appear to happen on single traditional longrod designs. Thus making the balance of the shot more stable.
Suitable for all recurve and compound bows, the stiffness allows for more options when adding additional weights and dampeners.

Our own experience of this longrod confirms that it is a really light, stiff rod and the first thing you notice is how stable the bow can be set up at full draw, the feel is also different during and after the shot, it feels more crisp and direct giving great feedback from shot to shot. Like all longrods these days the S3 is designed to work best with a rubber dampener. We have found that the best starting combination is weight/dampener/weight, although we know of archers with the FB and this rod and find it works just as well without the rubber because of the excellent dampening properties of the carbon riser and longrod.
