We and some customers have now had two weeks with their bows shooting F4 & F3 limbs and the feedback is very good, Dereks initial set up was good but not as quiet or as stable as his GMX yet still as accurate, however two weeks down the line and we have a better understanding of this bow and how to set it up. We can confidently say that this package is better than a GMX/990TX combination (not that this is in any way a bad package). The new limb pocket and limb design makes the bow very stable and the movement of the limbs after the shot is considerably reduced. The feel of the shot is different and confidence building.
But you don't have to take our word for it, if you are serious about changing your bow come and try one.
Yes we accept that you will have to buy a complete new bow, but this is a top of the range product built as a bow, for those archers who are comfortable with their draw weight, not a beginners set up where draw length and draw weight are going to change over the next 12 months and may require the purchase of different limbs.
The bow is lighter than the GMX, the F4 & F3 limbs are smoother to draw than the 990TX and like for like 68" 41lb on the fingers (marked limbs 44lb - yes he has a short draw) set up GMX 990TX's vs Formula RX & F4's the RX bow is around 3fps faster. - Now it’s down to the fine-tuning accuracy is a given.
Selection considerations
Although the handle is still 25” overall the extra length in the limb pockets extends in towards the handle centre, it does not matter in the lower half but it does reduce the length of the sight window. Experienced archers will understand the implications of this but for the benefit of others lets explain briefly. At the shorter ranges like 20yds/18m (and here in Essex/Suffolk we do a 15yd round as well) your sight pin ends up at it’s highest point on the sight scale. Well, sight ring position is directly related to the depth of your face, so if you currently get good sight marks then you may find that the pin disappears behind the top of the handle, in which case you will need the 27”. Because of this uncertainty we are recommending that if you are unsure you pop along to one of our Pro Shops to find out either way.
Hoyt have thrown the gauntlet down to the rest of the industry, the original designers of the Hoyt Dove Tail System commonly known as ILF now bring us a new limb pocket design called the Hoyt Paralever Mounting System.
Hoyt engineers are quoted as saying that this elongated limb pocket will improve stability of the limb and reduces stacking for longer draw length archers so a 30-31" drawlength may not require a 70" bow and the archer can opt for a 68" instead or a 27" handle see above.
